Coordination meeting ‘Countrywise Platform’ on transport sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan
The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade held a meeting dedicated to the development of transport sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan шт the framework of Countrywise Coordination Platform for External Development Assistance.
The meeting involved the heads of representative offices of the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank in Uzbekistan, as well as experts from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investment, the Japan International Cooperation Agency and representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Committee for Roads, the Road Fund, Uzbekiston Temir Yollari JSC, Uzbekistan Airways JSC and Uzbekistan Airports JSC.
The participants discussed pressing issues on the development of Uzbekistan’s transport sector and coordination of technical support to partners in this field. At the end of the meeting for each financial institution certain functions and tasks were assigned and distributed for transport industry subsectors, and the priority tasks for mutual elaboration were determined.
Such meetings are the logical continuation of agreements with international financial institutions reached during the visit of the Delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade to the Annual Meeting of the World Bank's Governing Council in Washington (October 18-20) last year.
