A meeting with Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, Reza Rahmani
On December 11 this year, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov met with Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran (IRI), Reza Rahmani, who visited Tashkent with Iranian Delegation including heads of ministries, relevant organizations and business groups.
Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran, President of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization Hamid Zadboom, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Iran B. Abdullayev attended the meeting.
The meeting preceded the 13th meeting of the Uzbek-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation (IGC) and involved negotiations on opportunities and prerequisites to enhance bilateral relations. The dialogue identified promising priorities for cooperation with a view to investments in joint projects and commodity turnover increase: agriculture, fisheries and construction.
The attendees individually discussed possible increase in fruits and vegetables export to Iran and the cooperation of both countries’ foreign trade departments thereto. In particular, they voiced specific proposals to facilitate mutual commercial activity through mutual recognition of phytosanitary control requirements.
The work done by the parties for preparing and conducting events within the Iranian Delegation’s stay in Uzbekistan was also appreciated. This includes the exhibition of manufacturer from the Islamic Republic of Iran (December 11-13), Uzbek-Iranian business forum, B2B meetings and cooperation exchange. Moreover, the parties worked out a Protocol following the visit of the Iranian Delegation expected to be signed during the meeting of the Uzbek-Iranian IGC.
